Solar Power - renewable energy for a sustainable future.

I have seen many solar innovations come and go but one thing has remained constant.  The fact that even here in "sunny" Scotland it is possible to augment your domestic hot water supplies using solar power for most of the year.  In fact the prospects here are so good that we even have our own Scottish panel manufacturers and installers!!!!!  Stewart is currently also working with a Swedish colleague to bring panels and whole systems into the UK at well below existing market prices - watch this space!

If you can answer YES to the following questions, we can design a system design for you.
  • Does your roof face south or within 40 degrees of it, or do you have two roofs with an east-west orientation?

  • Is your roof either pitched between 30 and 60 degrees to horizontal or do you have a flat roof?

  • Is the area where the solar panels will be placed unobstructed by objects that would cause shading such as trees or adjacent buildings?

We recommend 1 square metre of collector area per person with a minimum of 2 square metres.

Cylinder capacity of 30 to 60 litres per one square metre of collector area is recommended.

A solar water heating system reduces CO2 emissions by 300 to 500 kgs per square metre of collector area per year and will provide around 60% of your hot water needs for the year.

The lamp unit shown here is a Nozon Lora Solar which comprises

a solar collector, powering either 12W or 16W of LED's in a

downlighting cluster.  Good enough for most gardens it uses

just 1/8 of the power of a traditional 125W sodium lamp and

amazingly will give you - so the makers claim - 100,000 hours

of working life.  Interested - call Stewart (+44) 1466 751411
