Electric Heating Generally - It Doesn't Have To Cost The Earth!

The evidence is building that electricity could be the dominant fuel in the UK within 10 years.  Electric heating is seriously flexible and very controllable.  Electric heating is also relatively simple and cheap to install and brings low maintenance costs - or low cost of ownership to use a current buzz phrase. In the home we can now provide electric heating options that are on average 17% cheaper than gas central heating for the average householder (according to a recent study carried out by Applied Energy).  Electric heating is also a great option for many industrial operations, churches, sports hallos, shops, gymnasia etc etc.  And finally, let's not forget that we are rapidly running out of oil and gas but becoming much more inventive at generating electricity so I don't think it is too silly to describe electricity as the fuel of the future.

"But running electric heating is expensive isn't it?"  "Electricity costs more than gas doesn't it?"  These are the most common queries I get when anyone asks me about alternatives to traditional gas fired central heating.  Well no - quite simply that is no longer the case.  Besides, not everyone has access to mains gas (me included) and so it is important to look at the options.  These are some of the systems I have found over the years that really do save you money and offer reliable, service for the long term.

The best industrial electric heating system I have ever come across is made in Sweden and generates what we call "long wave radiant heat" which is actually the same wavelength as the sun - but doesn't give you a tan or carry any harmful UV rays!!!  I use it all the time in Churches, Sports halls, Schools, Factories, Workshops, Warehouses etc - anywhere that gas or oil doesn't provide an option and the savings are tremendous.  The system has undergone various brand changes over the years and manufacture has moved from Sweden to China and back to Sweden - one thing remains the same however - the system works and it works very well - consistently.
